Aulani 's Newest Addtion Now OPEN!!

Disneys Aulani Resort and Spa has just opened Ka Maka Landing. I took my daughters out this week to get a sneak peak of the new area.  It was a stormy day but we took a lot of pictures of the all the new areas that are a great addition to the Resort Property. This addition is going to allow Disney Resort Guest a variety of where to eat and lower price point items to choice from. Happily the Aulani  Resort has made great enhancements to the Resort Property in lots of areas.

The expansion has bought a new infinity pool and Jacuzzi to the property. The infinity pool is right on the cliff edge blending right into ocean. It’s the perfect spot to watch the sun set. The little ones have a new splash zone to play in and enjoy the water. The neighboring Jacuzzi Grotto has an underwater theme that lights up at night!

The details in the grotto is spectacular , if you look closely you can  see a hammerhead shark in the rock formation. It is a family pool and its great to have another pool again , and this pool has no slide.

A huge plus to the new pools is, a large area for lounge chairs ! It can be a wait and alot of walking around to find chairs before so for us it and I am sure for many a great addition. In this area is the in ground water area for the little tikes and it will be a fun area for them to play.

The advantages of as being seasoned Resort Hoppers we find the comforts of each resort to be there when you need them. Aulani was missing that element of food and snacks at the ready. The drink stations were in place but the muffins and cookies were in a very small area that was not up to Disney Resort standards.  With the latest addition of ULU Café, we finally have that space to grab a snack while taking a break from the pool or lying in the sun. Most families like ours have kids that just want a snack not table service meals all the time.

The new ULU Cafe is a grab and go with a hot bar and those muffins and cookies we desire. The place also has fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, juice, soda, and coffee. The café is set up to host Breakfast, lunch, and Dinner. There is nothing better than an oversized Rice Krispy Mickey dipped in chocolate.
Anyone who has been to Aulani can tell you, pool side seating can be a problems, the sun and choices to choose from. With the new expansion there are plenty of seats to go around. An addition of a new restroom keeps everyone from running half way across the property to find relief.

r
Here is a welcome sight of hot ready Hof Brau style food area in the ULU Cafe it smelled delicious. Living here in Hawaii you love the local food and now everyone can enjoy local Hawaiian foods such as Loco Moco.

Nice to see more beautiful Hawaiian Art Work in the Ulu Cafe. The entire Aulani  Resort is covered in wonderful art in every area. The murals in the lobby are simply breathtaking .

We noticed new lanterns lights hanging outside on the trees are are very lovely in the front driveway going into the Aulani Resort.
The day was great we were able to see all the new areas , it was worth the wait the New Additions to the Disney Aulani Resort are wonderful.
Until next time, Tata For Now!!

Sunni takes a look at “Elsa the Snow Queen”

After seeing all the trailers for Frozen, I have to say it looks pretty cool! I was a bit critical at first, I didn’t think it was all that interesting, but now that I’ve seen the newest trailer, I’m really looking forward to it!

But I’m not here to talk about the trailer actually. I’m here to talk about the new Disney Princess Elsa, and what we can expect from her when the Frozen opens.

Elsa looks like a very cool character and her back story
is very interesting. . Elsa was born with the power to create ice and snow, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa isolated herself, trying to suppress her powers. And on the day of her coronation, which is also her birthday; (making her 21*, thus she is the oldest Disney Princess, unless you count Princess Kida, who’s 8800 years old lol) she somehow got her powers revealed, and sets off a mysterious ancient curse on the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter.  So because she sees herself as a monster for hurting her sister and putting a frozen curse on the kingdom, she basically banishes HERSELF to an ice palace she built, and creates snowman warriors, to protect herself (or at least keep people away from her unstable powers).

*from the official Disney character bio* it also says she created Olaf.

But I did find some interesting mentions on the page that I’m going to talk about.
Apparently her enemy is someone by the name of “The Duke of Weselton” this guy right here.

THIS is the guy that made everyone turn on Elsa and call her a monster.  His shtick is that he wanted to get close to Elsa before her coronation to exploit Arendelle’s trades and goods.  And an interesting thing to add, the official character bio says he’s one of the antagonists. ONE OF THE ANTAGONISTS!!
So there’s probably another antagonist in the story besides him.

Like in Wreck it Ralph, Gene was from first glace one of the main bad guys because he hated Ralph and just saw Ralph as the bad guy, but then it turned out that (spoiler alert) it was King Candy all along, who was Turbo in disguise.
Perhaps Frozen will play the same card as Wreck it Ralph did, having the main villain be someone we least expect.

Also Elsa’s ally is someone called “Marshmallow”. Now I was assuming Marshmallow was a horse or something since I didn’t see a picture. But then I finally found one, and saw this….

….oh.  So THAT’s Marshmallow……fitting name. Anyway, that’s about it. That’s all the info I got on Elsa at the moment.  The animation is Amazing and the Character of Elsa would be a beautiful addition to being a future Disney Princess.
So until next time,

See ya real soon!

Quick Service MUST EATS

There are lots of things we have on our "Must Do List"  the moment we go thru the Disney Park gates. What ride will be go on first ? What park to we hop over to during the day? For our kids the favorite is  "which Monorail color will be here next?".  But really we all know that the most important questions of the day will be , " What are we eating next and where? "!
Yes,  Disney Park food can just put you in a state of emotional happiness. There is so much to choose from especially when you go to Walt Disney World. This can actually make you crazy because every Park every where you turn has DELICIOUS food. There are lots of wonderful Table service Restaurants in Walt Disney World. I am just going to run through just some of the walk up or quick service food you have to try.

Here are some Quick Service Food Areas You Can't Miss !

Because I love books and coffee so so much, we went into the Writers Stop. Its a cute small coffee house with special goodies that we come back for every time. Our daughter was reading many years back that the Writers Stop, would be having a seasonal Carrot Cake Whop-pie. We feel we are good parents and feel to help our kids we should try new things they suggest. This was AMAZING , moist sweet but not too sweet and the cream cheese filling was wonderful.  They are good for you too, they have fruit which is the raisins and veggies with all those carrots. Did I also mention this thing is HUGE? so for me I could share but everyone wanted their own. Well , everyone is in luck this had become so popular, it became a staple on the menu years back, so its there all the time now. So now you know this has to be on your must stops, its the Writer Stop in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Epcot World Showcase, yes we do hop over to Epcot more then the Magic Kingdom. One of the Pavilion that has a fish to die for, its United Kingdom Pavilion.Yorkshire County Fish Shop usually has a long line but the wait is worth every minute. The English fried fish and your chips are 'Delicious'. I have to eat it with Malt Vinegar but they do also offer Ketchup.  Now remember its a walk up window and your fish will be wrapped in tradition newspaper.  Yorkshire County Fish Shop is great you'll really enjoy it and you can thank me later.

Beer, Lagers, Ales, Dark or Light in color ,Epcots Germany Pavilion has it all. You haven't enjoyed Germany unless you have had a Germany Pretzel at the Sommerfest with a Germany Beer of course. They have of the best bratwurst with sauerkraut we have ever had . In the sweets side they have Bavarian apple strudel, and black forest cake both have our seal of approval.
All the castmember's in all of the World Show Case Pavilions are from the countries they are representing. We have spent lots of time chatting with these young adults from all the Pavilions . We enjoy how nice and willing they all are to talk to all the guest . I am sure they are answering the same questions over and over about certain things about their homelands but you would never know it .

France is the family favorite place to get a quick bite whether it be lunch or dessert you can never go wrong with the Boulangerie Patisserie les Halles . Nothing beats a Croissant with either chocolate or ham and cheese. I do believe my husband has tried everything, but as of this year it has opened up in a bigger space so that means lots more to try. Now they even serve soups and salads so the combinations now are endless . My favorite is the Palmiers, my kids love the cream puffs or any of the chocolate works of art and my husband loves it all. Boulangerie Patisserie les Halles in Epcot World Showcase, is a wonderful place to eat anytime of day.

In the Magic Kingdom at Aloha Isle that's in Adventureland, you will find this pineapple delight its similar to soft sever but to me creamer. Dole Whip is so good, you can get it several ways with fruit (pineapple) or as a Dole Whip Float with Pineapple Juice or your choice of different juices. For my kids they love just the Dole Whip in a cup but my husband and I love the Dole Whip Float with Pineapple juice its delicious. This little counter is a must stop. Also depending on the weather you can expect to wait a bit the line does get long.

Pinocchio's Village Haus is in Fantasyland right next to Its a Small World. Its the cutest booth in Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom. It feel like you are in a little Italian village in the mountains so adorable. So back to the food ,this is a  great place to eat for every pallet.  They serve flatbread pizzas, macaroni and cheese, and subs. My favorite there are the Mediterranean salad, to have healthy choices while on vacation is perfect. My mom loves the ice coffee here. My kids love the flatbread pizzas and the meatball sandwiches they all really good.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe thats in the
Magic Kingdom in Frontierland is a great place
to eat. Taco Salads are great , you get the huge taco shell filled with ground beef . Then you go to the fixings bar and add the lettuce tomatoes yourself. The BBQ Pork sandwich and the Burgers are wonderful . I usually get the Bacon Burger or the Taco Salad now the differently have my seal of approval. Pecos Bills has a huge seating area and depending when you go you may be helped by a castmember to help you find a table. This is the place to go when you are hungry and need the extras to keep you going. Pecos Bills is near to Splash Mountain and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride , great for after the rides of course.

Animal Kingdom has lots of American food which is really good but the best food to try is African. The place to go to in the Animal Kingdom is the Tamu Tamu . This beauty of a sandwich is a Pulled Beef slow cooked of course served in a Pita. A wonderful taste and smells so good too. We love this sandwich they also have a roasted chicken sandwich that is really good too. We also order the quinoa salad that is hearty tasty and healthy. Tamu Tamu is a walk up window this has to be on your must try list.

I have only sratched the surface of the Amazing Foods in Walt Disney World. Hopefully you can get there soon to enjoy all of these delights.
Until next time thank you for reading our blog, Please don't forget to follow comment and give us any feedback.

Enjoying Disneys Board Walk Resort

Disney has one area that reminds me of that golden era when families went to the shore. Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, going to the shore meant a summer of games, seashell hunting, and candy. My brother and I always looked forward to the salt water taffy. Nothing said summer better that a large white box with a multitude of colors inside. Disney 's Board walk resort brings me right back to the long hot days of summer
The Boardwalk Resort is a turn of the century resort, modeled after Atlantic City and Coney Island in the 1920’s/1930’s. Disney's Board Walk is on Crescent Lake with Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Swan and Dolphin Hotels.
Disney Board Walk is a made from pressure treated wood to with stand the years of use. The Board Walk is 35 feet wide and 3500 feet long and contains over 300,000 screws. In the 1920’s the Board Walk in Atlantic City contained 30,000 wooden wheel chairs to assist those who visited the coast. Disney’s Board Walk has Surrey bikes to represent the Golden age of Atlantic City.

Luna Park pool named after the amusement park in Coney Island NY. The elephant at pool side is to represent the elephants at Coney Island NY. One memorable part of Luna Park was parading the elephants down to the ocean so they could wash themselves in the ocean.
Being a Disney Vacation Club Member, my family loves to visit Disney’s Board Walk. You automatically transport from being in Central Florida to North East . One of our favorite things to do is have Dinner there but my kids enjoy the sweeter side of the Board Walk the ice cream or the crepes . During our last visit we went to the Yachtsman Steakhouse with some friends. We had a wonderful time and the food was amazing. The restaurant is a New England steak house the food couldn’t get any better. The service is 5 star and we talk about the experience all the time. Then you can walk your great dinner off  by heading over to Epcot and watch Illumination Fireworks show. This is a what we enjoy in Disney Vacationing, very tranquil and relaxing.

Let us know of your favorite spot on Crescent Lake.( Disneys Board Walk Lake)

Todays Jim Henson's day

Today is Jim Henson's birthday, this is a mix of emotions for most of us. Happy that such a talented person with such a big heart created and loved making puppets for pure enjoyment and sad because he left us so early.
When I was in my early twenties I was in the Atlanta Airport waiting to board my first flight alone , I was an adult traveling yeah right . To my pure delight I saw Jim Henson standing about 3 feet in front of me, I automatically became 7 years old. Inside my head I jumped so high I hit the ceiling ! Jim Henson I thought Sesame Street , The Muppet show OMG !! He didn't have a thousand people next to him maybe a couple of men and what I think may have been his wife. But one thing I saw was a big black bag with him, I kept thinking " who's with him Kermit, no Fozzie Bear " all the characters I thought he loved the most kept going thru my head. Then he turned around and saw me frozen, I don't remember if I sat down or keep standing there like a big dumb kid. He looked at me and just smiled, I think there was alot of us pretending to be so adult but inside dying to ask " Where is Kermit ? "
Then he and his group boarded their flight, but I will always remember that when he looked at me and  lots of others  around me was saying " thank you guys".
Never did I think being such a Sesame Street junky and loving the adult humor in the Muppets , that I made two little people that have the same feelings for all the Jim Henson's creations. My daughter Ariel is the Muppets expert she has all the movies and has always loved the relationship of Kermit and Miss Piggy. She really loved Fragle Rock series too. She can still laughs at the corny jokes from the Muppet show , she already knew the punch lines. I think its the innocents of the Muppet show that she loves the most. Just plain fun.
Belle is the Sesame Street junky , shes older now but every now and then I will see her watching it. She loves the episode that there were two little girls swinging on the swings. One of the girls kept swinging having a great time the other girl got tried and layed down on the bench. Well the little girl that ate the banana kept playing but the little girl that ate the donut was tired. I loved that one too!

When I was little there was a Sesame Street episode that showed a little boy (puppet)  lost , someone came up to him and asked " what does your mom look like? ". The little boy said " She is the Most Beautiful Mommy in the World" . So the kept bring beautiful ladies to him asking " here is your mommy this is the most beautiful mommy we found ", the little boy kept telling them all the ladies where not the most beautiful and they were not his mommy. Then a lady (puppet) came and said  "son I am here ", the people said "but she is not the most beautiful mommy in the world ". The little boy said " she is the most beautiful mommy to me".  Now that stayed with me because as a tiny person I understood that beauty is in our eyes.
So my little tribute is done, what I really wanted to say is "Thank You Jim Henson, this family is regratful for all you have done for us and the world. "

Ta Ta for Now !!

Forgotten Attractions at Disneyland!

I recently looked at the old America Sings attraction that was in Disneyland, and I was pretty interested in it, even though I never rode it since I didn’t exist in this universe back in the 70’s.
It seemed like a cool ride. It apparently was a mix of Splash Mountain, Country Bear Jamboree, and Carousal of Progress, and it had audio-animatronic animals singing about….well….America. (apparently my mom loved it as a kid, lucky!)
But as I searched the wonderful world of the internet, I stumbled across something that was really intriguing.
There was a forgotten ride in the old America Sings site that was planned but never built, called Plectu's Fantastic Intergalactic Revue, which was going to be like America Sings, except in space.
Not like the animals would be in spacesuits or rocket ships lol
No, it was going to be friendly aliens that landed on Earth (kinda reminds me of Alien Encounter, minus the extremely scary pants-crapping alien monster)

So I could barely find any other facts about this ride, other than some concept art… which kinda makes me glad this thing WASN’T built.

Kinda scary.
But besides that, I found nothing else on this ride.
So after finding this out, I thought “hey maybe there are more rides that were never built” and sure enough, Wikipedia had a HUGE list of rides that never saw the light of day.
There was the pretty awesome Candy Mountain ride to open in Fantasyland.

This would totally fit now, since Wreck it Ralph is so popular, and it would be like the real version of the Sugar Rush video game!!! WRECK IT RALPH LAND, I WANT IT.
I wonder if Charlie the Unicorn would go :)

Then there’s the Enchanted Snow Palace, which in my opinion, is another great idea that could be used now.
The Enchanted Snow Palace was going to be a dark ride, where you ride in a boat on an icy river, as you travel the Artic caves and the palace of the Snow Queen.
I’ve got a concept drawing of one of the parts of the ride.

Aww how cute!
Unfortunately there’s no concept art for the outside of the ride, but there IS a picture of the Snow Queen herself.

Hmm….looks familiar….
I can already see this ride being made at some point, and if Frozen does good, we might get it after all J
Next is Geyser Mountain, the Frontierland equivalent to the Tower of Terror.

Not much to say about it, but that it looks pretty cool :)
And last, but certainly not the least, the amazing looking Indiana Jones and the Lost Expedition ride.

(Isn’t it weird how the concept art always looks cooler than how the ride comes out?)
Not only was this going to a huge complex, it was going to have THREE DIFFERENT RIDES INSIDE.
YES. THREE.
It would incorporate the Indiana Jones ride, the Jungle Cruise, AND the Disneyland Railroad.
I’m guessing the Indiana Jones was going to be like the mine cart scene from The Temple of Doom (which I totally want. I’ve been saying I wanted that scene as a ride for YEARS)
But due to unknown reasons, this never came to be, and was then changed to Indiana Jones Adventure.
Now Indiana Jones Adventure is a cool ride, but I kinda wished The Lost Expedition ride was there instead, because it looks cooler and more fun than the ride that’s there now.
So that’s it, I’ll be back with more forgotten rides soon,
See ya real soon!
